“San Francisco’s Evolving Waterfront” is a large scale mural digitally printed with ceramic inks. Displayed at the famous Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, the art glass depicts the layers of history surrounding the San Francisco port. Digital composites of historic photographs, illustrations, and drawings were turned into graphic files which were digitally printed by Western States Glass directly onto the glass. The artists, Troy Corliss and Elin Christopherson, opted for this method of glass printing for the glass art because it provided the durability needed in the exposed marine environment, it eliminated the common issue of delamination, and they could achieve the high level of detail needed for such a short viewing distance.
