glasstec 2014, What Can Attendees Expect to Experience

Glass processors from around the world will gather in Dusseldorf, Germany in just under three weeks, for the industry’s largest trade show, glasstec. This show stands out as the leading exhibition in the sector and considered a global meeting point for decision-makers from throughout the “glass world”. The exhibition covers the glass value chain with a unique and broad spectrum of companies and in doing so attracts a large international and high caliber audience.

The show will take place October 21-24th at Messe Düsseldorf, and the opening plenary is scheduled for October 20th. The event will include panel discussions with the presidents and CEOs of Guardian Global, O-I Europe, AGC Glass Europe, Saint Gobain Glass, and Schott.

Bridgit Horn, Director of glasstec, said in a recent interview,  “trends [we] can expect to see include thin and curved glass, glass printing and coatings, display glass and technical glass applications, building integrated photovoltaics/ solar thermal energy, glass and material combinations on facades, laser technology as well as glass recycling.”

In addition to the halls full of exhibitors and machinery, there is a supplemental special show, “glass technology live”. The show will offer a preview of the future of glass products with a focus on architecture. The highlighted theme at this year’s special show is “Intelligent Glass” which will cover the areas of Intelligent Building Envelopes, Façade + Energy, Innovations in Glass, and Glass Design + Interior.
